After just a few years after the first cars appeared, people quickly realized the potential of this technology for transportation of heavy loads. As a result, the development of commercial vehicles with internal combustion engines has not kept itself waiting long. And of course, these technologies are attracted to the military for use in their purposes. 1920-ies have been difficult for manufacturers of cars in Europe. On the one hand, the military was unloaded from transport their warehouses, on the other hand the market was crowded with cars from the USA . The great depression in 1929 led to the destruction and closure of many companies.
In the 1930-ies, the situation has improved considerably, especially in Germany. This was partially caused by rearmament of Germany after 1933, but mainly due to the improvement of the economic situation. For these reasons, the demand for cars, trucks and buses for civil and military use has grown significantly…

Because Germany did not have a single manufacturer of vehicles for the Wehrmacht, the fleet was filled with dozens of suppliers of commercial vehicles. Moreover, after the outbreak of the Second World War, freight transport more diversified due to manufacturers from the occupied territories – the Czech Republic, Austria, friendly Italy, and later the trophy trucks France, Poland, USSR… Thus, the German army was one of the most motorized at that time. The lion’s share of production vehicles were accounted for army needs trucks from 1.5 to 6 tons, wheeled tractors, personnel carriers, half-tracks or all-wheel drive. This diversity has created certain problems with the supply of spare parts. This program was launched standardization and harmonization of transport between manufacturers, as well as minimizing basic models. But still, the number of brands and models of truck fleet of the Wehrmacht was certainly the most diverse. One way of solving this problem was the project Einheitz Diesel or a Single Diesel – three-axle truck with four-wheel drive gathered simultaneously on multiple enterprises. The truck has proven itself a reliable and unpretentious, but due to the small capacity relative to their own mass production was to collapse in 1940. However, there was an enormous number of instances used as trucks, trucks, armored vehicles and engineering vehicles. In this article, lay out photo galleries of the most notable models of trucks of that time. Pictures are taken from public sources scattered across the Internet. Organize or how to arrange all this vehicles by year or model I did not want in the first is very difficult due to the diversity, and secondly – just no practical need. So just dump everything most interesting and rare specimens in the heap. Pleasant view.
